
Wendy O’Neal has spent 26 years in education, wearing many hats along the way. She holds an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership, a Master’s in Early Childhood Special Education, a dual Bachelor’s in Elementary and Special Education, and an ESL certification. A highly qualified reading intervention teacher, she has deep expertise in MTSS, structured literacy, Tennessee RTI², and dyslexia guidelines, as well as literacy and dyslexia assessment and intervention.
Wendy’s experience spans teaching, instructional coaching, and school administration, with success at the school, district, and state levels. She served as a Tennessee Academic Specialist, supporting schools identified for improvement, and has mentored future educators as an adjunct professor for nearly two decades. Most recently, she worked as a consultant, evaluating university teacher preparation programs to ensure alignment with structured literacy, state standards, and evidence-based dyslexia interventions.
Outside of work, Wendy is a passionate advocate for education equity. As a mom to a child with dyslexia, she is committed to effective literacy instruction. Living in East Tennessee, she serves as vice president of the International Dyslexia Association’s Tennessee branch, helping spread awareness and support for educators and families..
